Agenda Item: Long Turkish War
The Long Turkish War (1593-1606) was a highly long lasting conflict between the Ottoman Empire and the Habsburg Monarchy, specifically in Central Europe. The war started with the Ottoman's aim to expand and advance towards Austrian lands and the Habsburgs' effort to stop this progress. In 1593, the Ottomans started the war by taking Eğri Castle, and then the Habsburgs launched counterattacks. One of the most important and critical moments of the war was the Kanije Victory in 1601. Finally, the Treaty of Zsitvatorok, signed in 1606, brought an end to the war. This treaty provided some territorial gains for the Ottoman Empire, but the Ottoman Empire could not gain a clear victory over Austria, and a period of balanced peace began.
